Late 2013
The idea for TIPSY is born from students of the newly created Master’s Degree in Peace, Mediation, & Conflict Research (Peace).
2015
February: TIPSY hosts its first ‘Peace Perspectives’ event in coordination with Iltakoulu and Interaktio, allowing students of all three associations to share their research relevant to peace & conflict.
May: TIPSY is officially recognized by the Finnish registration & patent office!

2016
TIPSY focuses on expansion!
Our website is created and becomes the primary hub for TIPSY events and updates.
TIPSY also begins including students from other global society programmes, namely Global & Transnational Sociology (GTS). Though they are not officially represented by TIPSY, their students are welcomed to events and TIPSY organises tutoring for them.
2017
TIPSY continues building onto traditions new and old with many events, such as a cabin trip and movie nights.
Students from all global programmes are invited and welcomed to join!
2018
TIPSY rebrands as the ‘Tampere International Global Society Students’ to reflect the addition of new programmes to the association, while still keeping our beloved nickname.
TIPSY now officially represents students from the following programmes: Peace; GTS; Public Choice Programme; Gender Studies; and Comparative Social Policy and Welfare (COSOPO).
With our rebranding, we also created a new logo!

2019
March: TIPSY is a founding member of Yhteiskunta- ja terveystieteiden ylioppilaat ry or ‘Graduates of Social & Health Sciences,’ better known as YTY ry.
YTY serves as a parent association for all the social science programmes at Tampere University and its founding built upon previous collaborative efforts between the associations to better advocate for all.

2020
Despite the arrival of COVID-19, TIPSY goes on strong with online and outdoor events to keep the lockdown blues away!
2022
October: ‘Peace Perspectives’ becomes the ‘Thesis Showcase’ to include students from all degree programmes. (The name would again be changed to ‘Global Perspectives’ in 2023)
November: TIPSY helps to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Peace Programme, allowing students from many years to meet!

A panel of PEACE students from various years. And onward…
The best is yet to come!
