TIPSY’s main connections at the University of Tampere are with the Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI) and the Master’s Degree Programme in Peace, Mediation and Conflict Research. Many of the TIPSY board and members are students in the Peace programme, and we interact with the TAPRI staff and researchers through teaching, lectures, seminars, joint events, and occasionally we receive funding for an event from TAPRI.
The programme focuses on the topical and pressing challenge of how to build socially sustainable societies. This future-oriented programme offers a unique deep dive into both social sciences and health sciences.

This program is designed to teach students to use economic tools to address various social science problems. Issues examined involve strategic behaviour ranging from institution design, policy design and implementation to decision-making. The methods used include social choice theory, game theory, and basic microeconomic intuition/analysis. Following traditional public choice theory, the program examines how and when individual self-interest among politicians, interest groups, etc. can either help or hinder the public interest in policy design and implementation.
The COSOPO programme provides an interdisciplinary approach to contemporary societies in Europe. The aim of the programme is to facilitate the understanding of social policy and welfare in Europe. The programme focuses, for example, on the dynamics of social policy in the countries representing different welfare models and on analyzing different fields of social policies from various perspectives.

The programme offers the knowledge, skills, and tools to work in the complex setting of contemporary and emerging health challenges. It allows its students to grow their expertise in global health policy and in understanding the dynamics between multilevel and intersectoral governance and health. It is an interdisciplinary programme in health sciences and social sciences.
