Academic Affairs
TIPSY’s primary purpose is to represent the students of the international Master’s Degree Programs of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Tampere and endorse their interests. The association maintains strong communication links between TIPSY and the teaching bodies, as well as the university staff, student associations and other relevant stakeholders.
TIPSY arranges regular curriculum development meetings between the students and the the programme staff. This way students have the opportunity to give feedback about the masters programmes and the courses and share their thoughts and ideas about their studies. TIPSY members are thus part of programmes’ development process and have the opportunity to influence their curriculum structure and content.
Social Events
TIPSY organizes many different kinds of social events and free-time activities for its members. The aims are to introduce students from different programmes to each other with social activities and academic events to give students an opportunity to express their ideas and thoughts. TIPSY organizes different sort of events several times a month. Find social events on our calendar, Instagram, or KideApp page! All event registrations are done through KideApp.
Welcome Week & Tutoring
At the beginning of each academic year, TIPSY organises a Welcome Week for all new students in its programmes. Events during this exciting week include: city and campus tours; museum visits; sauna events; picnics; and more!
Before Welcome Week, each new student will be assigned a TIPSY tutor to help you settle in to life in Tampere! Tutors may assist you in learning local transportation, where to find certain shops, how to register for classes, and more. Most importantly, your tutor is a friendly face you can count on as you begin your new degree.
